This policy explains what hike.video collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We keep it short because there isn't much to say. We collect as little as we can.
hike.video is still in development. Right now the only thing most people give us is an email address, so most of this policy describes what will happen once the application exists.
What we collect today
- Your email address, if you leave it to be told when pre-orders open.
- Pre-order details, if you pre-order: your name, email address, and the fact that you paid.
- Basic usage data. Anonymous analytics about which pages get visited, via Google Analytics 4. We do not send your email address or any other personal detail to Google Analytics.
We do not collect payment card details. Payments are handled by our payment processor, and we only ever see a confirmation that a payment succeeded.
What we will collect once it launches
The photos, video clips, voice notes and GPS tracks you choose to add to a hike, so that the application can keep them together and generate your film. Nothing is collected from your phone that you have not chosen to add.
How we use it
- To email you when pre-orders open, and about your pre-order.
- To operate the application for you once it exists.
- To understand which parts of this site are useful.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your material to train anything.
Your material stays yours
You keep all rights to the material you give us. We will never publish, share, or use your material or your films for promotion without your written permission.
Who else touches your data
We use a small number of third-party services: a form provider that delivers pre-order signups to our inbox, an email provider, a payment processor, cloud storage, and Google Analytics. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you ask us to remove it, or until we stop working on hike.video. Pre-order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Once the application exists, you will be able to delete a hike and its files at any time.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable format. Email us and we'll action it within 30 days.
Cookies
This site sets analytics cookies through Google Analytics. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers beyond the services listed above.
Children
This service is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top and, for anything significant, email anyone who has pre-ordered or joined the list.
