These terms apply when you pre-order hike.video, or join the list to be told when pre-orders open. Pre-ordering means you accept them.

What you are buying, and what you are not

hike.video is not built yet. A pre-order is not access to a working product today. It is a paid reservation for the first year of access once the application launches, at a fixed founding price.

When it launches, hike.video is intended to keep the photos, video clips, voice notes and GPS tracks from each of your hikes together in one place, and to generate a short film from them automatically. The exact feature set may change during development. We will not remove the core of what is described on this site without offering you a refund.

Price

The founding pre-order is $79 for your first year of access. The intended price after launch is $200 per year. If you pre-order, your price stays at $79 per year for as long as your subscription runs without a break. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply where you live.

Your first year begins on the day you are given access, not on the day you pay. Any delay to launch costs you nothing.

Refunds

You can cancel a pre-order and receive a full refund at any time before launch, for any reason, by emailing us. You do not need to explain why.

If hike.video has not launched within twelve months of your pre-order, you may request a full refund at any point after that, and we will pay it.

If we abandon the project, we will email everyone who pre-ordered and refund every pre-order in full without being asked.

No launch date is promised

We will tell you what we are aiming for, and we will email you if it changes. An estimated date is not a contractual commitment. Your protection against delay is the refund right above, which stays open until the day you receive access.

Joining the list

If you give us your email address to be notified when checkout opens, that places you under no obligation and costs nothing. We will email you when pre-orders open, and about this product. You can ask us to remove you at any time.

Your content and ownership

Once the product exists, you keep ownership of everything you put into it, including the films generated from your material. You confirm that you have the right to use the material you upload and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

You grant us a limited licence to store and process your files for the sole purpose of operating the service for you. We will not publish or promote your material or your films without your written permission.

Acceptable use

Don't upload content that is unlawful or that you don't have the right to use. We may decline or close an account and refund the unused part of the year if we cannot work with the material.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to a pre-order or a subscription is limited to the amount you have paid us. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Keep your own copies of your original footage. hike.video is not a backup service and we are not responsible for the loss of material you do not hold elsewhere.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force for your pre-order is the one published on the day you paid, and we will email you if anything material changes before launch.
